Rui Filipe Meneses de Lima was born in Vila das Lajes, on Terceira Island in the Azores, where he lived until the age of 18. His education began at the Aldeia Nova Basic School in Vila das Lajes, then moved on to the Francisco Ornelas da Câmara School, and finally the Vitorino Nemésio Secondary School in the city of Praia da Vitória. These institutions ignited his thirst for knowledge and laid a strong foundation for his future endeavors.
In 2008, he embarked on a new chapter of his academic journey in the lively city of Braga, where he cultivated his passion for medicine at the University of Minho. He completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Medicine from 2008 to 2014, a period during which he acquired foundational knowledge in health sciences. In 2015, he returned to Terceira Island for his first professional experience, completing the Common Year Internship at the Hospital de Santo Espírito Ilha Terceira
Nurtured by the dream of Plastic Surgery from an early age, in 2016 he was admitted to the Plastic Surgery Department of the prestigious Centro Hospitalar Universitário Lisboa Norte - Hospital de Santa Maria to carry out the his residency in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.
His rigorous and comprehensive training at this esteemed institution covered various areas of Plastic Surgery, reinforcing his dedication to the field and setting the course for his future endeavors in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. During this period, he enriched his training through international internships:
- Internship at the Plastic Surgery Clinic, Toronto, Canada (2018; focus on Rhinoplasty and Breast Surgery);
- Internship at Feldkirch Hospital, Feldkirch, Austria (2019; focus on Orthognathic Surgery and Craniofacial Deformities);
- Internship in Plastic Surgery, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA (2020)
- Internship at Back Bay Plastic Surgery Clinic, Boston, USA (2020; focus on Liposuction and Gluteal Surgery);
- Internship at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute, Dallas, USA (2020; focus on Rhinoplasty and Facelift).
In 2018, he began collaborating with Up Clinic Surgery and Aesthetics at the invitation of the esteemed plastic surgeon, Dr. Tiago Baptista Fernandes. Aiming to concentrate on Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, in 2022 he strengthened this association by choosing to dedicate himself exclusively to Aesthetic Plastic Surgery at the renowned Up Clinic Surgery and Aesthetics, with clinics in Lisbon, the Azores, and the Algarve.
He currently applies his expertise in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, focusing on facial, body, and breast surgeries. With a meticulous and personalized approach, and a commitment to deliver exceptional results, he assists patients in realizing their aesthetic aspirations, helping them to achieve their desired transformations.
He recently published two scientific articles in the prestigious Ibero-Latin American Journal addressing Facelift and Necklift, as well as Gluteal Remodeling after massive weight loss.
He frequently attends internationally recognized training events. In 2023, he attended events in France, Spain, and Mexico to update and share knowledge in Rhinoplasty, Facelift, and High Definition Liposuction.
