SURGICAL PROCEDURES BY LIMA

Get answers to all your questions regarding surgical procedures for the face, breasts, and body.

What is it?

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that allows you to increase the volume of the breasts while simultaneously improving their shape and contour.

When is it indicated?

Breast augmentation is recommended for individuals with breast hypoplasia, which refers to a lack of breast volume without skin excess or breast ptosis.

How is the procedure performed?

The most frequently used technique involves the placement of breast implants. In some cases, it can be performed through lipofilling (fat grafting). Additionally, the hybrid technique combines breast augmentation with an implant, complemented by lipofilling.

What type of breast implants are used?

Currently, silicone breast implants are commonly used, available in two shapes: anatomical implants or round implants. The round shape allows for greater filling of the upper quadrants of the breast, while the anatomical or drop-shaped implant provides a more natural breast shape, characterized by a straighter upper pole and a more rounded lower pole. We also offer B-Lite implants, which are 30% lighter than traditional implants, suitable for particular situations such as active women.

How is the implant placed?

The implant can be placed through several approaches, determining the final location of the scar:

  • Inframammary
  • Periareolar
  • Axillary

Where is the breast implant placed?

The breast implant can be placed in various anatomical positions, considering factors such as body biotype, degree of breast hypoplasia, and patient expectations:

  • Subglandular (below the mammary gland)
  • Subfascial (below the fascia of the pectoralis muscle)
  • Submuscular or dualplane (partially covered by the pectoralis major muscle)

When the implant is positioned in a dual-plane, its upper half is positioned under the pectoralis major muscle, and its lower half under the mammary gland. This position is particularly important for women with significant breast hypoplasia, as it allows for more natural results without the stigma of breast surgery.

How to choose the volume of the implant?

The volume of the implant should be chosen considering the user's aspirations and desires while respecting her individual anatomy, including height, chest width, and base of the breast. During the evaluation appointment, we utilize Vectra technology, a three-dimensional imaging system that allows us to plan and simulate the surgical results in the preoperative appointment.
